Sophia at Elmwood

Here are a couple photos from this week at Elmwood Day School. Everyone asks what she is learning at school, so here is a little bit from this week's newsletter:

We found leaves of different sizes, shapes and colors. We talked about how they grow on branches of trees. Then we made a leaf collage by sticking them on clear contact paper. The children chose a variety of leaves to paint with.

We talked a little bit about Thanksgiving and turkeys. We worked together gluing fabric pieces and feathers on a really big turkey to hang in our classroom.

Another day we painted with feathers, both small and very large. The children discovered by mixing blue and red paint they got purple!

We learned new words: branch, stem, vein, attach, maple, oak, turkey, gobble, feather, light and soft.
